Big Win for Sharks in the State of Florida
With the fate of future Hammerhead and Tiger shark stocks "hanging in the balance", the Florida Wildlife Commission took a huge step in the right direction today in placing stricter regulations and protective measures to help the dwindling populations of the Smooth, Scalloped, and Great Hammerhead shark species as well as Tiger sharks within the state waters of Florida. Myself, along with Sean and Brooks Paxton, spear-headed the recreational shark release anglers position on these proposed regulations, and to place our input to the Commissioners and those in attendance, that greater strides need to be taken to educate anglers within the state on how to properly handle sharks (particularly protected species) when pursuing them as game fish.
